Film 4 Ideology

In this trailer for 'Looking for Eric' we can see the typical type of chhttp://youtu.be/P-WCCdkVDr4aracters used in Film 4 films. All the men at the beginning of the trailer are all useless men that just sit around all day doing basically nothing and can't take anything seriously, which is typical Film 4 ideology. Also Erics' sons don't listen to him which you wouldn't see in a Hollywood film as in them, they would probably be represented as loving family boys. They are representing a horrible part of Britain as they mostly do, by placing it amongst council houses and with a very untidy inside of a house, which you wouldn't see in a Hollywood feel, you would be more likely to see a mansion with beautiful decor.
The British cultural references that they use is, Manchester United football team, the boys going to see football matches and the famous player Eric Cantona. It also handles a very common life, of the fact that Eric is no longer with his wife and that he is bringing up the children on his own, as in most Film 4 films they use this type of ideology and no one ever seems to come from a good background.

The representation Oliver, makes him seem quite a sad and lonely boy, who is quiet and keeps himself to himself, but in his mind is aware of his surroundings. When we hear what he is thinking in his head it is quite weird and disturbing, but is actually what a majority of boys actually think about in Britain today, e.g. sex and love.
Strangely the setting of this film, doesn't seem to be as run down as most other Film 4 films, which makes its look slightly better.

In this trailer we see what we don't want to see and really think about. All of these Muslim men are out to kill themselves and kill people while they're at it. With all of the real things that have happened e.g. London Bombings and 9/11 this is very inappropriate and was a very typical risky thing for Film 4 to do. They made it seem like that is what all British Muslim men want to do and that it is the right thing to do.
It is again in a run down area and this makes Britain look again like it has no nice part at all. However it then goes into London city and shows that it isn't all like that.
They use a common British song at the end, which is a classic that everyone knows and this is used in Film 4 a lot, showing exactly who it is aimed at.
